Here are the specific questions and answers covered in this kick off call:

“What’s the difference between the Lean Life Membership and the Lean Life Membership + Coaching?”

You can join the #LeanLifeChallenge at the basic level, a $1000 commitment and you will get access to the Weekly Zoom Calls and the Facebook Group. You will also receive generalized guidance, encouragement, and accountability, to improve your nutrition, understand macros for tracking, and increase / improve your level of physical fitness and activity.

For personalized coaching from Whitney and Ashley throughout the challenge you can sign up at the $1500 level and in addition to the Weekly Zoom Calls and the Facebook Group, you will also receive a personalized nutrition and exercise plan, as well as private access to Whitney and Ashley through a separate online portal.

“Are the intakes different between $1000 and $1500?”

Yes, there are different intake forms for the different levels. The basic level intake form is very detailed and will be reviewed by our coaches. However, only the $1500 level’s intake form, will result in a personalized nutrition and exercise plan, and ongoing coaching.

“Do you need a gym membership or specific home equipment to be successful with this?”

A gym membership is recommended for access to a variety of equipment and for accountability. However, home workout programs are also available for those who prefer it or have limited access to a gym. The programs can be tailored to individual circumstances, including travel.

“What time are calls on Mondays?”

The #LeanLifeChallenge Zoom Calls will be LIVE on Mondays at 8 AM PST / 9 AM MST / 10 AM CST / 11 AM EST. Calendar invites with the links to the calls will be sent out to those in the Challenge.  Replays will be posted in the facebook group.

“Could you post those labs we need to the FB group or somewhere we can see them?”

Yes, the set of lab tests recommended will be emailed to you and posted in the Facebook group.

“Where can we ask questions?”

If you’re in the Challenge at the basic level, you can ask questions on the live Zoom sessions or in the Facebook group. If you’re at the personalized $1500 level, you’ll have a personal portal to ask Whitney and Ashley questions privately.

“Is there a way to upgrade from the basic to add the coaching?”

Yes, simply email Gina@JoePolish.com and let us know you’d like to upgrade.

“Do you have recommendations for Canadian labs to get the blood work done in Canada?”

Genius Network Member and Functional Medicine Expert, Sachin Patel, and Genius Network Member and Expert Surgeon, Cheri A Ong, MD, FACS, will be collaborating on the list of labs as well as recommendations to get the labs done in the USA, Canada, and the UK. We will email this information as well as post it to the facebook group as soon as it’s ready for you.

“Do we need to share photos in order to do this?”

Sharing photos is not mandatory for participation in the challenge and all photos submitted to Whitney/Ashley are private and will not be shared with anyone unless given authorization to do so. While photos are recommended as they are useful for tracking progress and visualizing changes, there is an understanding of personal preferences and concerns regarding privacy. There is great value in before-and-after photos when it comes to monitoring progress and making adjustments to individual plans. However, if participants are not comfortable with sharing photos, it is not a requirement.

If you are able to take photos for tracking, instead of the recommended bathing suit or shorts, you could wear something more comfortable…  or you could crop out your head in photos to maintain privacy.

If you are participating in the challenge at the $1500 level you can share photos privately with only your coaches through the separate coaching portal you’ll be provided.

And, for those who choose not to share photos at all, Whitney and Ashley can help you work around this and find other ways to track and support progress.

The primary focus is on personal commitment and effort rather than compulsory photo sharing. Participants are encouraged to take photos for their personal reference, even if they choose not to share them with the program coaches.

“Is the accountability, just the weekly photos?”

Accountability in the challenge is not limited to just the weekly photos. While photos are a component of the accountability system, there are several other aspects to accountability in the program including: Weekly Check-In Calls, Direct Communication with Coaches, Community Support, and Tracking & Adherence to Nutrition and Workout Plans, including tracking macros, physical activity, and overall progress!

“If anyone knows of a travel-friendly scale, please share. I travel a lot and would love to track my weight/body composition if I could travel with something that gets the job done.”

This is a great question and topic for the facebook group. Here is a suggestion Whitney found on Amazon (but has not personally used it before): https://amzn.to/41Fw54G

“Do you recommend the 3D dexa body scans like they use at Forward Medical?”

Yes, if you have access to a Dexa Body Scan that would be a great tool to track progress.

“I would really like a quick breakdown of macros vs protein and carb counting.”

A general macro breakdown is 40% protein, 40% carbohydrates, and 20% fats. This ratio can vary based on individual factors like body type, medical issues, age, and fitness levels.

Macro counting involves tracking all three major nutrients – proteins, carbohydrates, and fats – to achieve a balanced diet, whereas counting only proteins and carbs might neglect the fat intake, which is also an essential part of a balanced diet.

The 40/40/20 ratio is a starting point and can be adjusted according to personal needs and goals. The approach to macro counting is to provide a more comprehensive nutritional balance compared to focusing on only one or two types of nutrients.

“Is ‘counting macros’ a plan you’d do for life?”

After you’ve tracked for a while you get an amazing foundation and may not even need to track anymore. The concept of counting macros as part of a fitness and nutrition program is important for understanding and managing one’s diet effectively.  And, when it comes to achieving specific fitness goals it can be crucial. Counting macros is a tool to facilitate better dietary choices and to understand the balance of proteins, carbs, and fats in one’s diet. While the initial phase of counting macros might be more intensive, the skills and knowledge gained from this practice is beneficial for long-term dietary management.

“Can we use a Tonal Machine at home?”

Yes for sure, you can also use an X3 bar, or any other at home gym equipment.

“What is the cost to add Team Members?”

We do encourage you to invite your family and your Team to participate as well. They can join the challenge just like you did, from https://LeanLife.com. The investment options are the same for everyone.

“I’m limited in mobility but can there be a plan developed around that? Diet, nutrition, upper body, etc.?”

Yes, at the personalized coaching level, you will receive nutrition and exercise plans that will take into consideration any physical restrictions or any food allergies.

“I don’t have a specific weight goal, how might I go about setting goals?”

Goals do not have to be a specific weight. Think deeply about your personal goals for the program, and don’t limit them to just physical changes. Consider overall transformations, including mental and spiritual aspects. You might consider setting goals that focus on overall health and wellness improvements, increased fitness levels, developing healthier eating habits, or enhancing mental well-being. This approach allows for a more holistic view of health and fitness, rather than focusing solely on weight.

For example your goals could be related to fitness levels, energy levels, body composition, habit formation, performance goals, other health markers like lab results or blood pressure, skill acquisition goals, consistency goals, or stress reduction goals, or goals around your measurements and how clothing fits.

“Do you recommend a food delivery service?”

We can. We’ll discuss this in more detail in the facebook group. Whitney and Joe have recommendations for meal prep services in Arizona and other Members have recommendations too. Meal prep companies and food delivery services are certainly useful. If it’s accessible and cost-effective, using such services can be a key to success, particularly for those with limited time, as it simplifies the process of eating healthily and sticking to dietary goals.

“What is the name of Whitney’s Gym?”

Pro Physiques is the name of Whitney’s Gym in Arizona.

“What is the definition of successful completion?”

The specifics of what defines a successful completion will be emailed out and posted in the facebook group before the challenge starts on January 1st, 2024.

Successful completion of the Lean Life Challenge will involve meeting certain benchmarks and checklists that will be provided as part of the program. If participants successfully complete the challenge as per these benchmarks and checklists, they will be eligible to receive their money back. Your challenge will have specific criteria and goals that need to be met, which will include adhering to your fitness and nutrition plans, participating in the weekly check-in calls, and could also include meeting certain physical or health-related targets. Your benchmarks and checklists should be designed so that they measure your commitment and progress throughout the challenge.

Joe and Whitney will further nail down all of the specific criteria and get that to us soon. It will include things like:

  • Complete each week’s check in with pictures, weight, macros and all questions answered.
  • Hit your macros each week.
  • Participate in the weekly Monday calls.
  • Complete any challenges your coaches put into your program.
  • Provide proof of progress in your goals outlined at the beginning of your program. (i.e. dropped weight, improved strength with lifts, increased endurance, decrease in medications you have to take for other health issues, better energy and sleep, increased daily water intake, etc.).

“Any other vegetarians here?”

Vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, paleo, and pescatarians… All can participate in the Lean Life Challenge. The program is designed to be adaptable to different dietary preferences and requirements. We encourage you to communicate your specific dietary needs and preferences in your intake form.

“I use My Fitness Pal app. Is there a benefit to using the Macros+ app too?”

The Lean Life Coaches recommend two apps for tracking macros: My Fitness Pal and Macros Plus. You only need to choose one of the suggested apps as they both serve a similar function in helping track dietary intake, particularly macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, and fats). For those participating at the $1500 level, these two macro tracking apps can be synched with the portal to automatically upload your daily tracked macros each week when you check in.

If you are already using My Fitness Pal and are comfortable with it, you might not need to switch to or additionally use the Macros+ app. My Fitness Pal is a comprehensive tool that allows you to track your food intake, including macronutrients, which aligns with the goals of the Lean Life Challenge. The key benefit of using such apps is to gain a better understanding of your eating habits, specifically in terms of macronutrient distribution and caloric intake, which are crucial aspects of the program.

However, if you find that My Fitness Pal doesn’t meet certain specific needs or preferences you have, exploring the Macros Plus app could be beneficial. Different apps sometimes offer unique features, interfaces, or food databases, so some users might prefer one over the other based on personal experience.

Ultimately, the choice of app is about what works best for you in terms of ease of use, accuracy, and how well it helps you stay on track with your dietary goals. If My Fitness Pal is already serving you well in these aspects, it should be suitable for the requirements of the Lean Life Challenge.
